The word Shiatsu means finger pressure in Japanese. Shiatsu is a Japanese holistic therapy, and it works on the same principles as Acupuncture; both are based on Chinese Medicine. It is used to promote good, strong flowing Qi or vital energy through the body. Gentle pressure and stretching is used on acupuncture points and meridian channels, using fingers, thumbs, palms, elbows and forearms rather than needles to increase the body’s natural defences. Through touch the practitioner assesses which meridians are out of balance ~ which are more deficient or in excess. Diagnosis is done though all the senses to give an overall picture of what to treat.
Chloe is very passionate about Shiatsu and is constantly amazed by its healing powers. Chloe is very sensitive to energy flow in the body, and uses this skill to assess and restore balance. Chloe had Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) in her late teens/early twenties and turned to holistic medicine, when she found that conventional medicine wasn’t helping. Since then she has been on a long journey to find her calling to healing with Shiatsu. She wishes to support others through their journey.
Shiatsu can treat a broad range of conditions including ME, fibromyalgia, blocked energy and pain in the body, menstrual issues and peri-menopausal symptoms. Chloe’s treatments support the body’s self healing ability and regular sessions will re-balance you on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, bringing about a sense of harmony and over all well-being.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN A SESSION
On your first visit Chloe will gather some history about your health. The session takes place on a massage couch, fully clothed (please wear comfortable soft clothing, preferably natural fibres) and lasts one hour, including a few minutes rest at the end.
